The Vision of El Greco, Crete to Toledo

£4000   (100x82cm)
In the centre of this 'sculpted' painting

is El Greco himself with a flaming brush

in his hand.

The flames surge up to encompass Toledo,

home of his masterpieces, but the brush is

also on fire with the sensual poetry and

spiritually of his contemporary,

the Spanish mystic St John of the Cross.
On either side of this artistic conflagration is an iconic 'Adoration of the Magi' and a

fully realised El Greco 'Nativity.'

Chartres I

£3000   (58x100cm)
The complex design here begins from a labyrinth or medieval prayer wheel that leads upward into a 'map' of Chartres (resembling a tree) and finally into the structure of the cathedral's roof, constructed of wood and traditionally called 'The Forest.'

The Journey

£1500   (88x70cm)
This work contains ideas and fragments from various Italian painters who were concerned with the pilgrimage journey. The central image is from a mosaic in the Baptistry, Florence, showing the Magi undertaking their journey in a boat, and similar fisherman figures (from a carving by Andrea Pisano on the Bell Tower of Florence Cathedral) can also be seen [top left.]
