The idea for these paintings came about when the artist saw an exhibition of music manuscripts and felt that they were akin to drawings with their rubbings out, corrections and re-workings etc. This in turn led to the idea of producing paintings of scores themselves as 'visual echoes' of the structural and emotional quality of sound.

(21)'Verklarte Nacht by Arnold Schoenberg.'

A large painting interpreting the slow and spiritual meditation on this great work. In content and psychology the work clearly anticipates the innovative 20th century music Schoenberg himself helped to forge.
