FRANCE

(15)  Callian
In this small, less complex painting is to be found a memory of
beautiful evenings in hillside towns in the South of France, along with
  admiration for Whistler's 'Nocturne' paintings.

Les Nuits Lumieres de Bourges
Here projected angels of light float through darkness over the mass of
       the Cathedral from which their

 ethereal being comes.

(13)  Notre Dame de Reims
This painting is made up of a complex reconstruction of many facets of
the building itself with interior and exterior perspectives presented.

(12) The Smiling Angel of Reims
The Angel of Reims is based on a sculpture on the outside of Reims
Cathedral that survived the occupation of World War II and became a
       Symbol of French resistance.

(16)  Chartres II
We 'enter' by the Royal Portal which contains

what the artist feels are
some of the most beautiful sculptures

ever produced, shown enlarged
in greater detail [left and right.]

Inside [centre] is the famous
  'Madonna and Child of Chartres'

and above a highly detailed Rose
  window with the entire

Cathedral visible to its left.

For Clark, France means the great gothic Cathedrals: Chartres for its glass and sculpture, Bourges also for glass, Avignon for its frescoes and Reims…….for the angel!
